Robowars

Robowars is an exhilarating robotics competition where participants pit their custom-built robots against each other in one-on-one matches. The primary objective is to strategically outmaneuver and overpower opponents by pushing their rival's robot off the arena while scoring maximum points.

Registration Process

1. Teams will have to register on the official Saturnalia registration platform before the deadline mentioned on the platform itself.
2. The participation of the registered teams is subject to shortlisting in case of an overwhelming response. (The process and requirements for shortlisting will be shared with the participants if required.)
3. Teams will then have to make the necessary payments (for non-Thapar students).
4. For the selected teams, on-the-spot registration by the group is compulsory for slotting.
5. Participation in the competition is exclusively open to college students possessing valid ID cards for the current year.

Registration Fees

• 500 per team

Rules & Regulation

• Currently registered students of a college are allowed to participate.
• Cross-college teams are not allowed.
• System to immediately power down all bots in case of emergency.
• Team Size: 2–5 members

Arena Setup

• Arena Dimensions: Hexagonal ring with a side size of 10 feet.
• Floor Material: Either strong mat material or plain floor.
• Safety Barriers: Extra safety measures around the arena for audience protection.
• Cage Material: Cage made of steel.

Bot Specifications

• Weight Limit: 7.5 to 20 kg
• Size Limit: 1.0m x 1.0m x 0.5m
• Category: Bots could be of any type DC/AC operated.
• Power Source: External power source will be provided for any robot.
• Safety Kill Switch: Mandatory for all bots.

Electrical and Power Requirements

• Power Outlets: Access to ample power sources will be provided for charging and miscellaneous use.

Tools Allowed / Banned

• Allowed: Hand tools, screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, hot glue guns, cordless drills
• Banned: Soldering irons, welding machines, gas torches, high-risk fire tools

Safety Gear

• Participants: Gloves, goggles, ear protection (to be brought by themselves)
• Spectators: Barriers, safe distance maintenance

Judging Criteria

• Aggression: 25 points
• Control: 20 points
• Defense: 15 points
• Damage: 40 points

Terms & Conditions

• By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by the rules mentioned above. The results given by the judges will be final and only the Thapar Institute Of Engineering and Technology reserves the right to make changes to the result if needed, under extreme circumstances, and disqualify any entry at any time in the event it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
• TIET reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act.
• TIET reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of unforeseen circumstances.
• TIET reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the final round.
• In the case of any dispute, the organizer’s decision will be final and binding.
• The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion / non-occurrence of the event.
• The organizers have all the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show.
• Any equipment provided by TIET or any of its associates must not be damaged in any way. If damaged, must be compensated for by the liable participant/team.
• In any dispute, the organizer’s decisions are final and binding on the applicant.
• The number of entries determines the deadlines.
• Property brought by the participant is their own responsibility and not TIET or any of its associate's liability under any circumstances.
• The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final.
