Civil Hackathon

Civil Hackathon is a competitive design challenge that brings civil engineering concepts to life through the use of professional tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil 3D. Participants are tasked with designing innovative and practical structures that address real-world infrastructure challenges, all within a collaborative and time-bound environment.

With guidance from expert faculty, teams must balance creativity with technical accuracy, producing solutions that are not only visually compelling but also feasible and impactful.

Registration Process

  • Teams must register on the official Saturnalia registration platform before the deadline mentioned on the platform.
  • Each team must consist of 2–4 members.
  • Only confirmed teams/participants will be allowed to compete.
  • Registration Fees: To be decided by the organizing committee.

Rules & Regulations

  • Only students currently enrolled in a college are eligible to participate.
  • Cross-college teams are not allowed.
  • Teams must consist of 2–4 members.
  • All designs must be created during the event timeframe using permitted CAD/CAM software.
  • Unsafe or unethical practices (plagiarism, copying, use of built-in models or templates, tampering with files, etc.) will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Teams must bring their own laptops and accessories. Internet access will be provided if required.
  • In case of a tie, technical accuracy and feasibility will take precedence over aesthetics.
  • The organizers’ decisions will be final and binding.

Judging Criteria

  • Innovation & Creativity: Originality and uniqueness of the structure.
  • Technical Accuracy: Effective use of CAD/CAM tools and adherence to engineering principles.
  • Feasibility & Applicability: Practicality of the design in addressing real-world needs.
  • Presentation & Clarity: Ability to communicate the design and its benefits effectively.

Results

A panel of judges will declare the results soon after the competition ends.
Judges’ decisions are final and binding.

Terms & Conditions

By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by the rules mentioned above. The results given by the judges will be final and only the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology reserves the right to make changes to the result if needed, under extreme circumstances, and disqualify any entry at any time in the event, it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.

  • TIET reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act.
  • TIET reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of unforeseen circumstances.
  • TIET reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the final round.
  • In the case of any dispute, the organizer’s decision will be final and binding.
  • The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion/non-occurrence of the event.
  • The organizers have the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show.
  • Any equipment provided by TIET or its associates must not be damaged in any way. If damaged, it must be compensated for by the liable participant/team.
  • In any dispute, the organizer’s decisions are final and binding on the applicant.
  • The number of entries determines the deadlines.
  • Property brought by the participant is their own responsibility and not TIET’s or its associate's liability under any circumstances.
  • The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final.
