The Calculated Heist

The Calculated Heist is a mathematics-based, Money Heist–themed competition where teams of “heist crews” attempt the robbery of the century. Each round represents a stage of the heist—breaking the security grid, negotiating in the black market, planning escape routes, and finally facing the mastermind’s trial. Participants must apply logic, strategy, probability, and teamwork to succeed.

Registration Process

  1. Teams must register on the official Saturnalia registration portal before the deadline.
  2. Each team should consist of 3–5 members (only college students with valid ID cards).
  3. On-the-spot confirmation of registration and ID verification is compulsory for shortlisted teams before slotting.
  4. The final team list, including names, contact details, and college name, must be emailed to the provided POC (Point of Contact).

Rules & Regulations

  • Only currently registered students are eligible.
  • Team size: 3–5 participants.
  • Teams must follow instructions and time limits strictly.
  • Unfair practices, use of external help, or disruptive behavior will result in disqualification.
  • Judges’ decisions are final and binding.

Judging Criteria

  1. Accuracy of solutions.
  2. Logical reasoning and problem-solving approach.
  3. Teamwork and collaboration.
  4. Strategy in negotiation and decision-making.
  5. Creativity in tackling challenges.

Results

  1. Results for each round will be declared immediately after completion.
  2. The final winners will be announced by the judging panel at the end of the event.
  3. In case of a tie or dispute, the organizing committee will make the final decision.

Awards & Prizes

  • Goodies and cash prize worth ₹10,000 INR for the winners.
  • Certificates of Excellence for winning and runner-up teams.

By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by the rules mentioned above. The results given by the judges will be final and only the Thapar Institute Of Engineering and Technology reserves the right to make changes to the result if needed, under extreme circumstances, and disqualify any entry at any time in the event, it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.

  • TIET reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act.
  • TIET reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of unforeseen circumstances.
  • TIET reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the final round.
  • In the case of any dispute, the organizer’s decision will be final and binding.
  • The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion/non-occurrence of the event.
  • The organizers have the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show.
  • Any equipment provided by TIET or its associates must not be damaged in any way. If damaged, it must be compensated for by the liable participant/team.
  • In any dispute, the organizer’s decisions are final and binding on the applicant.
  • The number of entries determines the deadlines.
  • Property brought by the participant is their own responsibility and not TIET’s or its associate’s liability under any circumstances.
  • The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final.
