Chromatic Alchemy โ€‹

Chromatic Alchemy is a creative, hands-on competition where participants step into the world of experimental artistry by formulating their own paints. Using provided chemicals, pigments, and other prerequisites, teams must craft paints that strike the perfect balance between texture, consistency, and color vibrancy. The event encourages innovation, precision, and a flair for color experimentation. Whether you are a science enthusiast, an artist, or simply curious about the chemistry of colors, Chromatic Alchemy promises a dynamic and unforgettable experience.

Registration Process โ€‹

  • Teams must register on the official Saturnalia registration platform before the deadline mentioned on the platform.
  • Participants can register individually or in teams (2โ€“4 members).

Rules & Regulations โ€‹

  • All required materials (chemicals, pigments, and equipment) will be provided by the organizers.
  • External materials or additives are strictly prohibited.
  • Teams will be given a fixed duration to complete their paint formulation.
  • Each team must prepare two samples:
    • A swatch (applied to a canvas/sheet provided).
    • A small container with the paint prepared.
  • Safety protocols must be followed at all times.
  • Spillage or damage to provided equipment may result in penalty.
  • Teams must submit their final paint samples before the time limit; late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Participants must report to the venue at least 15 minutes before the event begins.

Judging Criteria โ€‹

The paints will be evaluated by the jury on the following parameters:

  • Texture & Consistency (25%) โ€“ Smoothness and usability of the paint.
  • Color Vibrancy (25%) โ€“ Depth, richness, and appeal of the color.
  • Innovation & Creativity (25%) โ€“ Uniqueness in formulation or combination.
  • Practical Application (15%) โ€“ How well the paint performs when applied to the surface.
  • Presentation & Cleanliness (10%) โ€“ Swatch neatness and workspace discipline.

Terms & Conditions โ€‹

  • By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by the rules mentioned above. The results given by the judges will be final and only the Thapar Institute Of Engineering and Technology reserves the right to make changes to the result if needed, under extreme circumstances, and disqualify any entry at any time in the event, it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
  • TIET reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act.
  • TIET reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of unforeseen circumstances.
  • TIET reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the final round.
  • In the case of any dispute, the organizerโ€™s decision will be final and binding.
  • The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion / non-occurrence of the event.
  • The organizers have all the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show.
  • Any equipment provided by TIET or any of its associates must not be damaged in any way. If damaged, must be compensated for by the liable participant/team.
  • In any dispute, the organizerโ€™s decisions are final and binding on the applicant.
  • The number of entries determine the deadlines.
  • Property brought by the participant is their own responsibility and not TIET or any of its associate's liability under any circumstances.
  • The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final.
