AlgoAuction
AlgoAuction is a strategy-driven coding event that combines the thrill of auctions with the challenge of algorithmic problem-solving. Participants start with a virtual budget that they must use wisely to bid on algorithms and data structures. Once the auction closes, teams are restricted to using only the tools they’ve secured to tackle a series of timed programming challenges. The event captures the mathematical elegance of algorithms, optimization, and resource allocation, making every decision count. Success lies in balancing coding skills with foresight, planning, and budget management. By blending mathematics, logic, and competitive energy, AlgoAuction embodies Saturnalia’s spirit of creativity and technical mastery.
Registration Process
- Teams will have to register on the official Saturnalia registration platform before the deadline mentioned on the platform itself.
- Each team must consist of 4–5 participants.

Rules and Regulations
- Currently registered students of a college are allowed to participate.
- Cross-college teams are not allowed.
- Teams must bring their own laptops and required accessories. Internet access will be provided if required.
- Every team begins with a fixed virtual budget at the start of the event.
- Algorithms and data structures will be put up for auction. Teams must place bids strategically within their budgets.
- Once the auction ends, teams can use only the algorithms and data structures they successfully secured.
- Teams must attempt all programming challenges using only their acquired tools.
- Code must be original, clean, and logically structured. Plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
- Any attempt to manipulate bidding or disrupt the auction will result in strict action.
- Judges’ decisions are final and binding.
Judging Criteria
Teams will be judged on:
- Problem-Solving Accuracy: Correctness and efficiency of solutions.
- Strategic Use of Tools: How effectively teams leverage their acquired algorithms/data structures.
- Budget Management: Sustainable and tactical use of the virtual budget.
- Overall Performance: Consistency and adaptability across all rounds.
