Event Description โ
"Rap & Beatbox Battle: Unleash the Flow!" Prepare for an epic showdown as rappers and beatboxers throw down in a fierce battle of skills, rhythm, and creativity! The stage will heat up with raw talent, and only the strongest will reign supreme. Whoโs ready to claim the title? Donโt miss this high-energy clash of words and beats at the fest!

Registration Process โ
The participants will have to register on the official Saturnalia registration platform before the deadline mentioned on the platform itself.
The participation of the registered participants is subject to shortlisting in case of an overwhelming response (The process and requirements for shortlisting will be shared with the participants if required).
In case of shortlisting, only the shortlisted participants (otherwise all the participants) will be notified of the further process and will have to follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Participants will have to fill out the required forms and make the necessary payments (for non-Thapar students).
- For the selected participants, on-the-spot registration by the group is compulsory for slotting.
- Participation in the competition is exclusively open to college students possessing valid ID cards for the current year.

Who is eligible? โ
Currently registered students of a college are allowed to participate.
Performance Guidelines โ
For Rappers โ
Round 1 (Set Performance):
- Rappers will perform their practiced sets in front of a panel of judges.
- Rappers need to perform solo.
- A backing track is allowed and needs to be submitted to the POC before 15th November along with the college name.
- Rappers need to perform at least one original composition and need to make sure that the lyrics are not derogatory.
- The participants are not allowed to reveal/advertise their college, doing so will lead to disqualification.
- The time limit for each performance is 2-4 minutes. Participants must adhere to the time limit. Exceeding it will lead to point deduction.
- If there is any malfunction, it will be rectified, after which the participants will be allowed to start playing from the beginning of the same song.
- Top 4 performers from this round will be selected to move to round 2.
Round 2 (Freestyle Wordplay Face-off):
- Round 2 will be freestyle wordplay face-off between two rappers.
- Words and music beats will be randomly assigned to participants at the time of the performance.
- Rappers need to perform solo.
- The time limit for each performance is 2-4 minutes. Participants must adhere to the time limit. Exceeding it will lead to point deduction.
- If there is any malfunction, it will be rectified, after which the participants will be allowed to start playing from the beginning of the same beat.
- The winners of each face-off will be crowned as the Rap Battle champions.
For Beatboxers โ
Round 1 (Knockouts):
- Round 1 of the event will be knockout-based 1v1 face-offs.
- Beatboxers need to perform solo.
- Accompanying instrumentalists/backing tracks/samples arenโt allowed.
- The format of the competition will be knockout-based. Beatboxers will go against each other in a 1v1 face-off, each getting 2 minutes to perform their set. The winners will then proceed to the next round (depends on the number of entries).
- If there is any malfunction, it will be rectified, after which the participants will be allowed to start playing from the beginning of the performance.
- The top 4 performers will move onto Round 2.
Round 2 (Finals):
- Round 2 will be rapid-fire 1v1 face-offs.
- Beatboxers need to perform solo.
- Accompanying instrumentalists/backing tracks/samples arenโt allowed.
- The format of the competition will be knockout-based. Beatboxers will go against each other in a 1v1 face-off, each getting 25-30 seconds to perform their set. The top 2 performers will be selected as the winners.
- If there is any malfunction, it will be rectified, after which the participants will be allowed to start playing from the beginning of the performance.

By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by the above-mentioned rules. The results given by the judges will be final and only the Thapar Institute Of Engineering and Technology reserves the right to make changes to the result if needed, under extreme circumstances, and disqualify any entry at any time in the event if it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
TIET reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act. TIET reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of unforeseen circumstances. In the case of any dispute, the organizerโs decision will be final and binding. Property/instruments brought by the participant is their own responsibility and not TIET or any of its associate's liability under any circumstances. Any equipment provided by TIET or any of its associates must not be damaged in any way. If damaged, it must be compensated for by the liable participant/team. TIET reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the final round. The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion/non-occurrence of the event. The organizers have all the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show. In any dispute, the organizerโs decisions are final and binding on the applicant. The number of entries determine the deadlines. The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final. The winning prizes are subject to participation.
