Registration Process โ
- Teams will have to register on the official Saturnalia registration platform before the deadline mentioned on the platform itself.
- Participation of the registered teams is subject to shortlisting in case of an overwhelming response (the process and requirements for shortlisting will be shared with the participants if required).
- In case of shortlisting, only the shortlisted teams (otherwise all the teams) will be notified of the further process and will have to follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Teams are supposed to mail the final band list (mentioning the number of male and female members, specifying the Band Leader and their contact details, along with the required sound inventory and their college name) to the given POC.
- Teams will then have to fill out the required forms and make the necessary payments (for non-Thapar students).
- For the selected teams, on-the-spot registration by the group is compulsory for slotting.
- Participation in the competition is exclusively open to college students possessing valid ID cards for the current year.

Rules and Regulations โ
Who is eligible? โ
- Current registered students of a college are allowed to participate.
- Cross-college teams are not allowed.
- All college students are allowed to participate in bands of 3-10 members.
- The band should include at least 1 vocalist.
- Only a maximum of 3 bands are allowed to be representative of one college.
Performance Guidelines โ
- The battle of bands consists of a single round.
- The total time of each band performance would be 15 minutes with a maximum of 5 minutes for sound check and a maximum of 10 minutes for the performance.
- If a team exceeds the time allotted for sound check, the extra time taken shall be reduced from the performance time.
- 5% of the total marks would be deducted for every extra minute. Sound would be cut after 18 minutes.
- The participants are not allowed to reveal/advertise their college, doing so will lead to disqualification.
- Use of pre-recorded music (e.g. sequences, keyboard samples, guitar/octapad loops) will result in disqualification.
- Bands are free to perform songs of any language and genre. However, original compositions will be given more preference over covers of existing songs.
- While choosing the song, the participants should keep in mind that a song with derogatory language should not be chosen.
- Bands should bring their own instruments (including processors if required). Drum kit with double pedal and sound requirement will be provided by Saturnalia'24.
Judging Criteria โ

- Quality of voice and instrumental music
- Tightness and synchronization
- Choice of the song (in case of cover, composition otherwise)
- Overall impact

- By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by the rules mentioned above.
- The results given by the judges will be final and only the Thapar Institute Of Engineering and Technology reserves the right to make changes to the result if needed, under extreme circumstances, and disqualify any entry at any time in the event it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
- TIET reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act.
- TIET reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of unforeseen circumstances.
- In the case of any dispute, the organizerโs decision will be final and binding.
- The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion / non-occurrence of the event.
- The organizers have all the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show.
- Any equipment provided by TIET or any of its associates must not be damaged in any way. If damaged, it must be compensated for by the liable participant/team.
- TIET reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the final round.
- In any dispute, the organizerโs decisions are final and binding on the applicant.
- The number of entries determines the deadlines.
- Property brought by the participant is their own responsibility and not TIET or any of its associate's liability under any circumstances.
- The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final.
- The winning prizes are subject to participation.
