Celebrate the grace, rhythm, and joy of giddha as you and your team take the stage, draped in vibrant phulkaris and echoing the claps of tradition. With every boliyan sung and every swirl performed, let your dance embody the laughter, spirit, and strength that giddha has carried for generations. On the grand platform of The Feet of Legacy, seize the chance to showcase your unity, energy, and creativity, as your performance becomes a living testament to culture and celebration. REGISTRATION PROCESS

Teams will have to register on the official Saturnalia registration platform before the deadline mentioned on the platform itself. The participation of the registered participants is subject to shortlisting in case of an overwhelming response (The process and requirements for shortlisting will be shared with the participants if required). In case of shortlisting, only the shortlisted participants (otherwise all the participants) will be notified of the further process and will have to follow the below-mentioned steps:

  • Teams are supposed to mail the final team list (mentioning the number of members), specifying the Team Leader, and their contact details, along with their college name to the given POC.
  • Participants will then have to fill out the required forms and make the necessary payments (for non-Thapar students).
  • For the selected participants, on-the-spot registration by the group is compulsory for slotting.

Participation in the competition is exclusively open to college students possessing valid ID cards for the current year.

Registration Fee – ₹5000 per team

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Who is eligible?

  1. Currently registered students of a college are allowed to participate.
  2. Cross-college teams are not allowed.

Performance Guidelines

  • The team will consist of girls only.
  • A team must have a minimum of 10 members and not more than 12 members.
  • At all times, all the members should be present on the stage.
  • Giddha should be performed keeping the originality of the folk intact.
  • The use of inappropriate or offensive boli is prohibited.
  • The dance must not include ballet scenes.
  • Teams may use props of their own choice or other traditional giddha accessories.
  • The dress of giddha teams should be according to Punjabi folk, such as traditional salwar suits or lehengas.
  • Actions and choreography should align with the traditional rhythm and style of giddha, keeping the folk essence intact.
  • Both live dhol or recorded tracks are allowed. Bhangra beats should be avoided.
  • Duration of the dance is from 8–12 minutes. Time will be counted with effect from raising of curtain or with effect from the first beat of drum where provisions of curtain do not exist.
  • Teams are responsible for providing their music through pen drives, which must be submitted to the organizers at least 12 hours before the event begins.

By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by the rules mentioned above. The results given by the judges will be final, and only the Thapar Institute Of Engineering and Technology reserves the right to make changes to the result if needed, under extreme circumstances, and disqualify any entry at any time in the event it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these rules or has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. TIET reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act. TIET reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of unforeseen circumstances. TIET reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the final round. In the case of any dispute, the organizer’s decision will be final and binding. Date and Time are subject to change The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion/non-occurrence of the event. The organizers have all the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show. Any equipment provided by TIET or any of its associates must not be damaged in any way. If damaged, it must be compensated for by the liable participant/team. In any dispute, the organizer’s decisions are final and binding on the applicant. The number of entries determines the deadlines. Property brought by the participant is their own responsibility and not TIET or any of its associates’ liability under any circumstances. In case of low participation, prizes will be awarded as per the discretion of the organizing committee. Prizes will be awarded subject to adequate participation. The organizing committee reserves the right to modify or withdraw prizes if participation is below the expected threshold. The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final.
