Emporia is a dynamic startup simulation event designed to mirror the real-world challenges of building and scaling a business through four key funding stages. Teams will develop startup ideas in assigned industries, progressing through phases such as product development, marketing, sales, and brand building.

At this event, participants will not only pitch their visionary solutions but will also experience the real-world journey of a startup, progressing through funding stages from Seed to Series B and beyond. Itโ€™s more than just a competitionโ€”itโ€™s an incubator for future growth, where emerging businesses gain crucial exposure, connect with potential mentors and partners, and secure the resources they need to make a real-world impact.

Event Rounds โ€‹

Round 1: Seed Funding Round โ€‹

Objective: Develop a startup idea based on a randomly assigned industry.
Key Elements:

  • Industry Assignment (Technology, Healthcare, Education, Food, Cosmetics, etc.)
  • Startup Idea Presentation including:
    • Problem Statement
    • Solution/Product
    • Target Audience
    • Initial Market Research
    • Potential Revenue Streams

Round 2: Angel Round โ€‹

Objective: Focus on product development and backend operations.
Key Elements:

  • Product Development progress (prototype, service model, etc.)
  • Backend Operations (systems/technologies to support the product)

Round 3: Series A & Series B Funding Round โ€‹

Sub-Group 1: Series A Funding โ€‹

Focus: Startup has begun sales and marketing efforts for growth.
Key Elements:

  • Sales Operations: Showcase early revenue generation.
  • Marketing Investment: Explain fund allocation in marketing/branding.

Sub-Group 2: Series B Funding โ€‹

Focus: Building a renowned brand identity and market positioning.
Key Elements:

  • Brand Development: Messaging, values, customer engagement.
  • Market Positioning: Recognition, trust, growth strategies.

Round 4: Corporate Brand Funding Round โ€‹

Objective: Establish the startup as a recognized corporate brand.
Key Elements:

  • Corporate Scaling: Partnerships, customer retention, expansion.
  • Corporate Branding: Strong presence, consistent identity.

Support Platform: Plan_First Integration โ€‹

Participants can register through Plan_First, which provides:

  • Financial Assistance and Templates for robust plans.
  • Comprehensive Resources including guides for pitching, financial sheets, and expansion strategies.

Important Guidelines โ€‹

  • Teams must establish a new company specifically for this event.
  • Inspiration from existing companies is allowed, but direct copies are prohibited.
