Event Description

Product Marketing Design is a dynamic competition where teams of up to three unleash their creativity to design a complete marketing campaign for a unique product. This is a chance to merge artistic skill with strategic marketing savvy in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or similar platforms, participants will create stunning digital artwork and eye-catching visuals that effectively promote their product idea. The event provides a platform for students to ignite their design and marketing skills while showcasing innovation, teamwork, and presentation finesse.

Participants will be judged on creativity, technical skill, and the overall marketing effectiveness of their campaign.

Registration Process

  • Teams must register on the official Saturnalia registration platform before the mentioned deadline.
  • In case of overwhelming registrations, a shortlisting process may be conducted (criteria will be shared if required).
  • Only shortlisted/confirmed teams will proceed further.
  • Once shortlisted, teams must:
    • Send team details (names, contact info, college) to the given POC.
    • Fill out required forms and complete payment (for non-Thapar students).
  • Participation is limited to college students with valid ID cards for the current academic year.
  • Registration Fee: 800/- per participant

Rules and Regulations

Eligibility

  • Teams of 1–3 members are allowed.
  • Only registered teams will be eligible to compete.

Entry Submission

  • Each team must submit a complete product marketing campaign, including:
    • A poster/ad design
    • A social media graphic (Instagram/Facebook post or story)
    • A tagline or slogan that captures the essence of the product
  • Submissions must be in .JPG/.PNG/.PDF format.
  • A concept note (150–200 words) explaining the product idea, target audience, and creative strategy must be submitted along with designs.
  • Plagiarism, use of copyrighted images without modification, or reusing pre-made templates without significant customization will result in disqualification.

Technical Requirements

  • Canvas size: A3 for posters, 1080x1080 px for social media graphics
  • File size must not exceed 25 MB
  • Only legally obtained or college-provided software/tools may be used

Conduct and Compliance

  • Teams must maintain decorum and follow event guidelines
  • By submitting, participants grant TIET the right to showcase their designs for non-commercial purposes

Performance Guidelines

  • A theme/product brief will be given at the start of the competition
  • Teams will be allotted a fixed duration to brainstorm, design, and finalize their campaign
  • All work must be created during the event time; pre-prepared designs are not allowed
  • Teams should balance aesthetic appeal with marketing strategy in their final output

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity & Originality – Innovation in product idea and design
  • Technical Skill – Proficiency in design software and execution quality
  • Marketing Effectiveness – How well the campaign communicates and appeals to the target audience
  • Composition & Aesthetic Appeal – Visual harmony, clarity, and impact
  • Concept Note – Clarity of explanation and alignment with designs

Results

  • Winners will be declared soon after evaluation
  • Decisions of the judges are final and binding

  • Prizes subject to adequate participation; committee may modify/withdraw prizes if participation is low

  • Judges' decisions are final. Only Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) may alter results under extreme circumstances
  • TIET reserves the right to disqualify any entry for rule violations or unsportsmanlike/disruptive conduct

  • TIET may disqualify any team promoting obscenity
  • TIET may cancel the competition in unforeseen circumstances
  • TIET may change prize money before the final round
  • In case of disputes, organizers' decisions are final and binding
  • Organizers are not responsible for non-completion/non-occurrence of the event
  • Organizers may cancel, reschedule, postpone, or amend the event
  • Any equipment provided by TIET or associates must not be damaged; damages must be compensated by the participant/team
  • Property brought by participants is their own responsibility; TIET/associates are not liable
  • The number of entries determines the deadlines
  • The decisions of the jury/judges are final
